- Won 1st place in its first and only tournament, The Imperial Dragon Tournament in Lakeland, FL, by its President, Andrés Hermida
- Consistently held practice more than 3 days a week
- Reopened an abandoned building on Eckerd College’s campus for its exclusive use
- Contracted world renowned Gedi P and local hero and U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Robert Cockney (Captain Bob) as coaches
- Formed strategic alliances with St. Pete Judo, USF, and other statewide Judo Dojos
- Advanced its two founders, Andrés Hermida and David Stevens in rank
- Trained with over thirty people (and growing), ranging from never having done any martial art to being world renowned black-belt champs

The Eckerd College Judo Club, which was the first Judo Club Eckerd College has ever seen, was founded in May of 2006 by current President Andrés Hermida and Vice President David Stevens. It was one of the first judo clubs to be opened in the city of St. Petersburg, FL. It has been quite an experience, and a huge success. Since May, the Eckerd College Judo Club has:
